It is has been said that “the gospel brings man to God, devotions keep him close to God.” God’s word clearly advocates, that as believer’s, we ought to draw near to Him daily in prayer and study of His word. It should be our desire as Christian’s to daily surrender our will and forfeit our desires in exchange for what God would have for us. Part of this exchange involves training to build endurance so that we might live righteously in Him.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 proclaims that “ALL Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, bible-study1for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. This proclamation is a call for all believer’s to study God’s word in order to know it, live it and use it effectively.

When a runner is training for a marathon, part of the training process is running, that’s right, running every day. Part of our “training in righteousness” in order to be “competent” in the Christian life, has to involve the study of Scripture, and not just on Sunday.

As the book of Hebrews urges us onto Spiritual maturity may it be our desire to “[have] endurance, so that when [we] have done the will of God [we] may receive what is promised.” May we build endurance by training for this race daily.

Perhaps you have never begun a daily study habit, or maybe you have just neglected the privilege recently; we want to be a help. Here are some resources to encourage you this new year to make studying God’s Word a priority in your walk with Him.
